We must avert disaster in the California primaries and begin to mobilize and organize our blue wave activists to work in Republican held House districts throughout California. If you want to help NOW, please email Oodnorth@gmail.com and write 'Volunteer Coordinator' in the subject line.
Perhaps some Trump-affiliated candidates are afraid of our grassroots power and passion. At a minimum, they are worried about what is happening in a Pennsylvania congressional race and state races across the country. Note what Politico.com says regarding the race between Lamb and Saccone in PA-18: “Polls show Saccone with only a narrow lead in the race, and Republicans worry that a loss in the conservative district could portend a Democratic wave in November.”
Turning Congress Blue is the focus of the OoD team, based in Districts 02 & 05. OoD is focused on the 14 Republican House seats that need to be flipped in 2018, plus the 4 California Democratic seats that need defending. We organize in a couple of ways, finding that small to medium ‘pods’ of folks who are focused on districts or tasks helps us be more organized!
The 100+ members of the Out of District team (OoD) need your help and your passion. We have seen massive Red-to-Blue wins at the state-level including Wisconsin's 10th (28 point swing) and Pennsylvania's 35th (24 point swing). In addition, Oregon passed its Medicaid funding bill and Florida successfully petitioned to put a voting rights restoration initiative for ex-felons on its November ballot.
California, and the nation, can have this kind of success at the ballot box in 2018!
Act to Win electoral update post is off today to attend the Women's March. #HearOurVote is the theme of Bay Area marches; voter registration volunteers will be working many event, and many Indivisible groups will be marching and/or tabling. Find out how to get involved today!

The California Republican retirement earthquake happened last week with GOP enablers, Ed Royce and Darrell Issa, announcing they will not run in 2018. Although it does not mean our battle is over, we can appreciate the hard work that has been done to call them out on their lies and hypocrisy. Our own Indivisible Neil was in CA-49 as the local Indivisible and progressive groups celebrated the Issa announcement. See the full post......
Turning Congress Blue is the tag line for the Indivisible Sonoma County Out of District team, and we need your help. We need phone bank leaders and individual phone bankers, we need folks who want to do voter registration (or focused issue canvassing) out of district, or those who want to stay at home to get ready for upcoming text or postcard campaigns. After all, in just 133 days (May 21) voter registration for California’s primary will close.
We are highly motivated for 2018 and our work together will require major brainpower, footwork, and collaboration to Turn Congress Blue. To give you a preview, here is what the Sacramento Bee has to say about California: "Any Republican politician who thinks he or she has a future in the Golden State ought to be especially alarmed by this finding..."
Congratulations! Since December 1, the Alabama NAACP Phonebank has called 36,252 prospective voters, many African American Democrats whose votes will be crucial if Doug Jones wins tonight. Many groups and individuals from Sonoma County, and the North Bay, have been active in these calls. As well, every registered voter in AL got a postcard! (That is over 3.3 million voters!), It all depends on turnout, and Alabama has done its best to suppress turnout among African Americans.
In good news, Federal fundraising reports released Friday reveal that Roy Moore is losing the battle for campaign cash to Democrat Doug Jones. And he’s losing badly. Moore raised $1.7 million from Oct. 1 to Nov. 22, according to a filing with the Federal Election Commission. Democrat Doug Jones raised $9.9 million over the same period. The Indivisible movement’s fight against the Trump agenda has shown that there is a powerful progressive movement that reaches every corner of this country, and the elections we’ve seen so far in 2017 have shown that this movement has the energy to change elections and force candidates to reckon with us.
November 2018 cannot come soon enough. National Indivisible has created an electoral wing called Indivisible435 to build electoral power for the thousands of Indivisible groups in every one of the 435 congressional districts.
So much progress in one crucial week! Indivisible Sonoma County leaders and activists are ‘charged up’ by the wins in the states of Virginia, New Jersey and Washington. As one of our team leaders says regarding this last week’s elections: “A year ago today we were crying with tears of disbelief, sorrow and rage. Tuesday, we cried again, but with tears of joy!
Let’s get to work. This Act To Win features Alabama and California.
Act to Win is the new twice-weekly post from Indivisible Sonoma County pointing you to electoral work outside of our deep blue Sonoma County Districts. We are now ramping up this work as part of the Indivisible 2.0 winning strategy . Today we focus on banking for Virginia, the next Out of District Team meeting, and canvassing in California's District 7.
