Action! 7.23-7.25.2018

It has been quite a week. And really, quite a year.

But there are things we can do. And by doing them, we reaffirm our belief in our nation’s hopes and goals.

Resist. Rally. March. Call. Write. Act. And VOTE!

Campaigns are engaging again as they work toward November. Some of our neighboring states still face special elections. We can help.

July 25
Postcards for Lisa Brown (Running for Congress in WA)
Wednesday, July 25, 2018
4-6:30 PM
Gypsy Cafe in Sebastopol (162 N Main Street)

Gina Brown, an OFA volunteer has a sister, Lisa Brown who is running for Congress in Cathy McMorris Rogers’  district in WA. The campaign is going well but it won’t be easy. Polls show her just behind Cathy McMorris Rogers and gaining.

We’ll be writing postcards to overseas voters to encourage them to vote in the August 7 primary.

Our first event was a huge success. We wrote over 600 post cards and had fun along the way. A great way to meet like-minded neighbors and political allies.

Lisa is a great candidate. She’s gained national attention and is supported by the DCCC and Emily’s List.

RSVP: Gina Brown,

Make Calls About the Supreme Court Pick
Usually, we urge you to call only our local elected officials - our Senators, our Representatives. But the urgency of the Supreme Court pick is such that we encourage you to call your friends and family members to urge them to make calls.

The candidate has a difficult record on Roe v. Wade, Presidential culpability, impeachment, torture of prisoners, and  Civil Rights issues. Continued calls help reinforce both Democratic and Republican Senators who prefer a moderate and thoughtful Supreme Court. Mr. Kavanaugh’s own advertising indicates that he is a ‘strict constructionist’ and therefore too rigid to find ways to apply our constitution to new situations.

Encourage your friends and family to make calls respectful and firm calls to their senators. Quiet voices have impact - let’s all call.

Postcard from Home in Sonoma Valley
Here is an opportunity to begin writing to Independent & NPP (no party preference) voters in CA-22 in support of ANDREW JANZ for Congress.  He is trying to unseat Trump’s lapdog, Devin Nunes. Nunes won this district in 2016 by 35 points, but Trump only won this district by less than 10 points, which makes Nunes potentially vulnerable for 2018. (PLEASE NOTE: The messaging for this campaign cannot include any references to The Democratic Party or The Blue Wave.)

Please respond directly to and indicate how many postcards you would like to commit to writing on behalf of Andrew Janz over the next 3 months (minimum request is 20). These can be written at home or during an upcoming postcarding session (with you covering the cost of supplies & postage).

ALL cards will be collected on/before Sept. 25th and mailed back to Janz's campaign (so that they can mail to voters from an in-district address).

Watch for postcard parties, canvassing, texting, and phone calling campaigns for the November election. And continue to check out our calendar! There are new opportunities every week.

Don’t forget to call your member of Congress every day about the current administration’s war on children. Use our scripts Phone Scripts 7.23-7.25.2018, and sign up for Amplify. We fuel the blue wave by our commitment to standing up for our constitution.
