Take Action 11.9.2017

Tuesday’s election results reinforced our engagement. Some of us made calls and sent texts to help turn out voters in many communities.

In the next week, you can continue this momentum. Attend a meeting at your Representative's office to talk about the Trump Tax Scam. Learn more about the environmental impact of Trump policies. Participate in a discussion of voting rights and voter suppression.

And as we enter the season of giving thanks and giving back, please don’t forget your neighbors (we have links to help you give back!)

1.  Action
Note: Changed date and time!
Let’s be clear: the Trump Tax Scam is a massive giveaway to the wealthy and corporations, paid for by raising taxes on some middle class families and forcing deep cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security down the road. This is THE Indivisible National action.

Contribute
Can you chip in $5 to organizations that are helping the most vulnerable members of the communities affected by the fires?

Latino agricultural workers, hotel staff, restaurant staff, and winery crews are the backbone of our community in Sonoma and Napa Valley. Sadly, long before this fire, many felt at risk in a country that vilifies and berates them. They were already at the low end of the economic spectrum. Now many of them have lost everything.

The Latino Community Foundation and Undocufund are directing funds to those in the affected regions with the least financial, political, and social capital. Please chip in what you can to help vulnerable people in the affected regions who are an essential part of our communities.

In the coming months there will be other sad headlines to take the place of the Northern California fires. But while the world is quick to move on, here we will still be working hard to recover. Our communities are counting on us.

2.  Scripts
Reach out to our members of Congress and our local officials. Call about protecting the Mueller investigation.

Your calls change minds and encourage our Members of Congress. We are asking our representatives to oppose the Republican tax scam, support gun safety, protect American citizens who use the Affordable Care Act, and renew funding for CHIP programs for children all over the US.

You can find those scripts here (11-9-17 Phone Scripts) and on Amplify.
