Take Action 2.22-25.2018

When the news continues to break that our elections aren’t secure, it’s time to speak up. When we learn that our elected leaders simply won’t act on mass shootings - whether they take place in schools or at night clubs - it’s time to speak up.

And when speaking doesn’t get the job done, it’s time to take action.

1. Action
We are planning for the November midterm elections. With your help, we will continue building the political infrastructure needed to take back the House (and maybe the Senate!).

Our Sonoma County Indivisibles have been calling, registering voters, and sending postcards to remind people that this is an important election with important issues.

Want to help?

Air pollution and climate change are major economic and health threats. California leaders should take bold action on these issues and pass AB1745, which would require all new passenger vehicles registered in California to be zero-emissions starting in 2040.
See more info and sign the petition now to show your support. Thank you!

The CA-01 postcard campaign website is now live.  Here is the link:

Watch a short and fun film, and then help Rep. LaMalfa, a "Fake 45" clone, find a new career! Write lots of postcards urging voters to choose a new direction!

Call CA 49 From Home Anytime
We are working very closely with CA 49 where Darrell Issa is their current Congressman. The "Flip the 49th" team has asked us to call from home to ask voters  what issues matter to them, what is the level of support for Trump, and if they would be willing to volunteer.

You will need a computer or tablet that is connected to the Internet and a cell phone.
Send an email for instructions and a script to Linda, whatisworking@gmail.com

Not enough to get you started? Check out our Act To Win page to learn more about what Indivisible Sonoma County is doing.

2. Scripts
Guns in schools. Indictments for election meddling. Gerrymandering. Infrastructure.
Just as the news never ends, our commitment to making a difference continues.

The Bail Trap: American Ransom

Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018
The Bail Trap: American Ransom will screen on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 7 pm at Congregation Shomrei Torah, 2600 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa.  Panel discussion following the film, and an opportunity to  learn about relevant pending legislation in CA, SB 10, the California Money Bail Reform Act.

The inability to post bail is one of the main causes of America’s mass incarceration—yet many of us are not aware of this discriminatory system and how it destroys lives. This particularly affects low income people and minority communities and has lingering consequences.  We can change this system.

The program is open to the public and free (donations appreciated). This is the second film in the 2018 Social Action Goes to the Movies series. This year’s theme is Democracy is NOT a Spectator Sport. Flyer attached. For more information, please go to: www.cstsr.org or www.bravenewfilms.org/thebailtrap
