Phone Scripts 1.8 - 1.14.18: Pass Dream Act - Fund CHIP/Warning: Back Off Mueller - FBI + More

This week we ask our legislators to use their leverage: 14,000 Dreamers have already lost their protection status. Parents are being turned away from the Children’s Health Insurance Program. This is unacceptable, and we ask our Senators and Congressmen to continue government funding only if these measures are passed. We also ask them to ensure the Mueller investigation takes its course, and the Census process is protected.

Use Your Leverage to Pass the Dream Act and Fund CHIP

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [my MoC] to demand a clean DREAM act and CHIP funding in exchange for [her/his] vote to pass the Continuing Resolution. No “yes” vote without both, no funding for a wall.

14,000 Dreamers have already lost their protection status. Parents are being turned away from the Children’s Health Insurance Program. There is bipartisan support for both, but the Republican leadership and Trump are digging in their heels. You have the leverage:USE IT.

Will [my MoC] continue to hold firm and vote to continue government funding only if the DREAM act is passed and CHIP funded?

Warn the Republicans:  Back Off on Mueller and the FBI

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [my MoC] to publicly warn the Republicans in Congress to leave the Mueller investigation alone.

The Mueller investigation is moving quickly and Republicans are plainly terrified. They are mounting aggressive and baseless attacks, using lies and debunked conspiracy theories, against Mueller, his investigation and even the FBI. Instead of prosecuting obstruction of justice, they are doing it themselves. Their actions border on treason.

Will [the MoC] warn Republican colleagues to back off, drop their baseless attacks, and let the investigation take its course?

Thank You for Protecting the Vote by Protecting the Census

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to thank Senator [Feinstein/Harris] for asking the administration to reject a request from the Department of Justice (DOJ) to include a citizenship question on the 2020 census. .

The change being asked for by the DOJ is a clear attempt to frighten respondents in an effort to cause underreporting. This in turn would cause the drawing of Congressional districts to be skewed – in ways that would favor, of course, Republicans. As such, it is an attempt to weaponize the census for political purposes. This is unfair and undemocratic.

Please thank the Senator for me!

Thank You for Co-Sponsoring the Secure Elections Act

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to thank Senator Harris for co-sponsoring S. 2261, the Secure Elections Act.

After the debacle of the 2016 elections, it is imperative that our voting infrastructure be secured. The Secure Elections Act will make voting harder to hack through information sharing, funding improvements in voting systems and with a “bug bounty” program to detect new vulnerabilities. It’s a good step in the right direction. Thank you for co-sponsoring it!

Co-Sponsor the CRA to Restore Net Neutrality

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask that Senator Feinstein add her name as a co-sponsor to Senator Markey’s CRA resolution to undo the FCC’s ruling which gutted next neutrality. Will the Senator sign on as a co-sponsor?

Protect the Vote by Protecting the Census

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask Representative [Huffman/Thompson] to join our Senators in asking the administration to reject a request from the Department of Justice (DOJ) to include a citizenship question on the 2020 census.

Will Representative [Huffman/Thompson] join our California Senators and ask the administration to reject the DOJ’s request?
