The Impeachment Battle
Trump will be impeached by the House. It’s only a matter of time. This means that our focus needs to shift: while we must continue to support our Representatives on impeachment, we also now need to flood our Senators’ lines with support for impeachment (Republicans are beating us at this right now and it’s the Senate, not the House, that will vote on removal from office).

We also need to build and strengthen public support for impeachment and removal. This is NOT a time to sit back and let our Representatives do the work. It’s a critical time for us to be active and vocal, to be pushing hard for Trump’s removal from office.

Please join us this week in making calls to our Senators and Representative beginning on Monday, using our scripts below. Hate the phone? Resistbot (resist.bot) is your friend.

I Support Impeaching and Removing Trump

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to tell the [MoC] that I strongly support the impeachment and removal of Donald Trump.

The publicly-available evidence is already clear: Trump has committed multiple impeachable offenses and, in fact, continues to do so every week. I support the House’s fair and thorough work in investigating these and am confident that it will result in Articles of Impeachment that the House will pass. I’m urging my Senators, as well, to vote for removal. Thank you.

NO on ALL Judicial Nominees of an (about to be) Impeached President*

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the Senator to vote NO on all judicial nominees put forward by the president*, who is about to be impeached.

It ought to be sufficient that the president’s nominees for lifetime judicial appointments are so frequently ill-considered and unqualified.

After all, Stephen Menashi (2nd Circuit nominee) has been flagged by immigrant groups for his racist writing, and his close friendship with Stephen Miller ought to be enough for Dems to vote NO; Justin Walker (Eastern District of Kentucky) has earned a rare and embarrassing “not qualified” rating from the American Bar Association; and Halil Suleyman “Sul” Ozerden (5th Circuit), a close friend of White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, has a record of hostility to civil rights protections that demonstrates that he lacks the fundamental qualities necessary for dispensing justice in a fair and impartial manner.

The Senate must recognize this by refusing to advance ANY of these judicial nominations, a pattern that must continue until Trump has been removed from office.

Don’t Fall for McConnell’s Election ‘Security’ Scam

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the Senator to vote NO on McConnell’s election security scam.

Mitch McConnell has refused to bring the House’s SAFE Act to the Senate floor for a vote but, stung by his new nickname of #MoscowMitch, wants to bring an alternative bill to the floor instead. The problem is that he omitted ALL election security requirements from his bill, turning it into funds which may be misused to buy hackable voting machines – just what Mitch would want. Vote NO on his “no-strings” bill.
