Protect the Mueller Investigation from Interference

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the [Senator/Representative] to do two things:  support legislation to protect the Mueller investigation from interference and call upon their Republican colleagues to take a public stand on the actions they will take if the investigation is interfered with.

We know that Russia interfered with the 2016 election with the intent of electing Donald Trump. While we don’t have absolute proof of collusion between Trump and the Russians, there were numerous attempts by his campaign to collude and as many attempts to conceal contacts with Russian agents. The “smoke” in this case is thicker than that which filled the Valley of the Moon on October 10th. Mueller’s investigation is our best and perhaps only hope of getting to the bottom of this, which strikes at the heart of our democracy.

Will [Senator/Representative…] support legislation to protect the Mueller investigation and call on their Republican colleagues to take a public stance to protect Mueller from interference? Please immediately work to prevent President Trump from meddling in Mueller’s investigation or pardoning those now or in the future under investigation—something he’s already considering doing.

Kill the Republican Tax Scam

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the [Senator/Representative] to everything in her/his power to oppose the Republican Tax Scam that the GOP is rushing through Congress. Though the details of the legislation continue to change – a symptom of how hasty, secretive and unworkable the plan is – the outlines are crystal clear. The overarching plan is to give massive tax breaks to the rich and to finance them by taking away benefits from working Americans and exploding the national debt. The stated rationale is that the cuts will stimulate the economy, using voodoo economics that have never, ever worked, though Republicans have tried them over and over. To top this off, the cuts are being proposed when employment is at historic lows and the economy is booming. This is insanity.

Will the [Senator/Representative] fight tooth and nail to slow down and then kill this scam?

Stop Russia from Weaponizing our Social Media

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to support Senator [Feinstein’s/Harris’s] aggressive questioning of Facebook, Twitter and Google and to urge them to go further and propose or co-sponsor legislation to protect our social media from being weaponized in the future. As Senator Feinstein has noted, this is cyberwarfare – and an illegitimate President has apparently been the result. While I realize that this is new territory and that crafting such legislation will require careful thought, it’s imperative that foreign actors be stopped from weaponizing our social media against us. Please, go now beyond your questioning to develop legislation to protect us from this new form of cyberwarfare.

No on the Nomination of Sam Clovis at the USDA

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the Senator to oppose Sam Clovis’s nomination to the post of Chief Scientist of the USDA. Where to start? Clovis isn’t a scientist at all. Instead, the post appears to be a reward for his work on the Trump campaign, where he encouraged George Papadopulos to reach out to Russians to help the campaign by interfering in our election. Clovis isn’t qualified for the post and I believe he won’t have time for the job:  with any luck, he’ll be busy answering question from the Mueller probe for some time to come.

Will the Senator reject Clovis’s nomination?

Stop the Republican Attack on our Public Lands

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I am deeply concerned about Congress' continued assault on endangered species and our public lands.  SR 2936, the Resilient Federal Forest Act, contains a cornucopia of loopholes, exemptions and categorical exclusions for environmental, judicial, and public review; and, most shockingly, gives away public lands to adjacent private landowners.  The bill would be disastrous for forest health, requiring unsustainable logging, transferring endangered species authority away from the expert consulting agencies, and eliminating environmental analysis for a huge number of logging projects.  It also fails to fully address the problem of fire suppression funding.  Please vote no on this bill.
