Phone Scripts 1.25-28.2018: End Gun Violence/Release all Info on Russian investigation + More

Congress is on break right now, but that doesn’t mean things have stopped. On February 8, if there is no DREAM Act, the US Senators and Representatives will have to decide whether to keep the government open. The investigation into Russian interference in our elections continues. We continue to pressure for change.

Thank You for Fighting for the Dreamers!

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to thank [the MoC] for withholding their vote to reopen the government until there’s a both a clean DACA bill.

As disappointed as we all are at not yet being able to protect the Dreamers, we haven’t given up the fight. I so appreciate [the MoC’s] “no” vote and look forward to their steadfast demand for a solution.

Thank you for standing firm! Never, ever give in.

End Gun Violence

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling because, once again, there’s been a fatal shooting on school property. Once is too often, but there have already been at least 11 (eleven) schootings this year on school property.

Congress may take its moment of silence, but silence will not change anything. We must stop this senseless violence, and open way is to enforce limits on who gets what kinds of guns.

In November, the Senate Democrats were unable to get the Republican majority to act. Senator Feinstein’s bill addressing gun violence has not moved out of the Senate Judiciary Committee since last May. Other bills in the House and the Senate are languishing - all because the Republican majority refuses to act. At the same time, Congress approved new laws that make getting and using guns easier.

Please continue to take a leadership role and work to bring bills addressing gun violence to the floor.

Release all the information from the Russian investigation

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to urge the [Senator / Representative] to release ALL the information gathered so far in the Russian investigation. Rep. Nunes has drafted a ‘top secret’ memo and then shared it around to all the Republicans. The rumors are that this memo implies the FBI is a left-wing organization that worked with the Russians to elect Hillary Clinton.

The only way to counter lies, innuendo, and gossip is through the full truth. Please let the [Senator / Representative] know that we support full disclosure.

Vote for a clean DREAM Act

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to support the [Senator / Representative] in calling for a clean DREAM Act, one not connected to increased border security, funding the wall, or turning away refugees.

DREAMers arrived in the US as children. The average age for a DREAMer is 6. DREAMers grew up, went to school, and most have no memory of living anywhere but in the US. There is no route to citizenship for them. And there is no place for them to ‘go back’ to.

We need a rational immigration policy that addresses the needs of those who want to come as well as the needs of those who are already here - immigrants and descendants of immigrants. But punishment and insecurity for these children will continue to make our entire country less secure.
