Thank Rep. Thompson for working to bring his Gun Violence Prevention bill to the floor. Urge our Members of Congress to call for Jared Kushner to leave the White House (Ivanka, too!). Gun violence, tax scams, and claiming ‘executive privilege’ - our Members of Congress need to hear your voices!
Call Rep. Thompson and thank him for working to get his Gun Violence Prevention bill to the floor
Hello, my name is _____ and I live in <zip code>. I’m also a member of Indivisible Sonoma County. I’m calling to thank Rep. Thompson for initiating the petition that, if enough members of the House sign, will force the bill onto the floor of the House for a vote.
When the Speaker of the House and the Chairs of committees refuse to act, Congress may act through a discharge petition. It takes 218 signatures to bring it to the floor, and that means the Republicans must give more than lip-service to the idea of common sense gun regulations.
Thanks to Rep. Thompson, we can see who is willing to fight for the rights of the rest of us to live without fear of gun violence.
REPRESENTATIVE MIKE THOMPSON

Fire Jared and Ivanka
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to demand the immediate firing of Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, barring them from any role in the White House, effective immediately.
Jared and Ivanka are not only totally unqualified to work in the White House, Kushner is also an enormous security risk: he’s in financial trouble and has been the focus of multiple nations because he is seen as vulnerable. His economic straits and his seeming naïveté have made this worse. Ivanka routinely hides behind her role as a daughter when she’s seen as incompetent. They endanger our country by their total lack of qualifications and by their vulnerability to being recruited as “assets” by hostile nations. Their hiring was the worst kind of nepotism. They must GO.
Support the Students
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to continue to amplify the amazing work that the student leaders of Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school.
These students are true and impassioned leaders. We need to you support them fully and to amplify their message. Vocally support the “March for Our Lives”. Invite the students to meet with you and let them take the lead. Spread their message. Join their fight. Let’s finally make this happen!
Call Out the Tax Scam: Stock Buybacks
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to raise awareness of the tax scam that’s being perpetrated on American workers.
Of course workers are being given a small tax break. That’s how scams work: they distract you and make you feel good while you’re being robbed. This week’s case in point: here come the stock buy-backs. Republicans claimed that the scam would create jobs and raise wages. Now their lie is being exposed: the money’s going to investors instead, just as we said it would. Pennies for workers, millions for the indolent rich. I’m asking [the MoC] to talk about this, explain what it means and how unfair it is: expose the scam.
No “Executive Privilege” on Russia
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to condemn allowing the White House to claim that they’re “protecting the President’s right to claim executive privilege” on any activity relating to Russia that took place after January 20, 2017.
We’ve seen a parade of White House witnesses – Bannon, Hicks, Sessions and others – who have refused to answer questions when called upon to testify to Congress. This is unprecedented and unacceptable. Republicans are just letting this slide as part of their collusion with Russian interference in our elections. The [MoC] may not be able to stop this, but they sure as hell can complain loudly about it - and that’s what I’m expecting them to do.
Stop the Undermining of the ACA
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to condemn the Health and Human Services proposal to expand the short-term insurance plans that are exempt from Affordable Care Act consumer protections.
The proposal would extend the length of the plans from three to twelve months, effectively allowing people to opt out of ACA-compliant plans altogether. The plans don’t cover pre-existing conditions, don’t cover essential benefits, can reinstate lifetime caps and so on. They’re cheaper because they’re less valuable. They’re also likely to attract the young and healthy people that ACA-compliant plans need, leaving those plans with less healthy and balanced populations. This will cause those plans to become very, very expensive. In short, HHS is attacking the ACA, trying to kill what they couldn’t repeal. They must be stopped.
