Call your Members of Congress and ask for a deeper dive into who put money in - and took money out - of Cohen’s Slush Fund. Tell them to protect CHIP funding, and urge them to maintain the sanctions against China’s ZTE phone company.
Don’t forget to thank our Senators for standing firm on Gina Haspel’s appointment to lead the CIA, and urge them to vote NO on the latest Trump judicial appointment - for good reason!
Investigate Trump’s Bribes
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to call for an investigation into what are apparently bribes solicited and accepted by Donald Trump.
We now know that bagman Michael Cohen’s slush fund for Trump also received half a million dollars from Putin ally Viktor Vekselberg as well as pay-to-play funds from companies such as AT&T and Novartis. We know that Vekselberg’s firm was thought to be a front for the GRU. The first statements defending these payments are transparent and risible lies. It’s likely that the payments weren’t for “lobbying” but for bribes, as Cohen is plainly subservient to Trump. Here is the money trail. Open an investigation and follow it.
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to strenuously fight any attempt by the Trump regime to claw back funds for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
First Republicans wouldn’t fund the program for months. Finally they used children’s health as a bargaining chip and funded the program. Now Trump wants the money back to lower a deficit Republicans created with their tax scam. Tell them: No way in Hell.
ZTE and Trump Are Threats to Our National Security
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to demand that sanctions stay in place against the Chinese phone maker ZTE.
On Sunday Trump said that he needed to save jobs in China by removing sanctions against the Chinese firm ZTE. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said, "Our intelligence agencies have warned that ZTE technology and phones pose a major cyber security threat. You should care more about our national security than Chinese jobs.” We agree. Stand with Schiff and oppose Trump’s attack on our national security.
Scott Pruitt Must Go!!
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to demand the impeachment of Scott Pruitt, the head of the EPA, an ethical nightmare who is unfit to serve.
Pruitt is the second most blatantly corrupt officer, after Trump. From bribes to overspending of all kinds, from firing whistleblowers to plush overseas trips planned by friends and financed by taxpayers, Pruitt seems to be trying to break every ethical boundary he can find. He is an abomination, a stain on public service who must be removed. Impeach him.
Thank You for Your “NO” on Gina Haspel
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to thank the Senator for her vow to vote NO on the nomination of Gina Haspel as Director of the CIA.
Senator Harris’s demand for a yes or no answer to the question, “Do you believe that the previous interrogation techniques were immoral?” and Senator Feinstein’s clearly stating her opposition to Haspel make all Californians proud. We stand firmly behind you: torture is never ok under any circumstances. Not now. Not ever. Haspel must be rejected.
No on Ryan Bounds
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the Senator to vote NO on the nomination of Ryan Bounds to the 9th Circuit court.
Bounds, who mocked multiculturalism as an undergrad at Stanford, is opposed by both of Oregon’s senators. By tradition, their refusal to submit “blue slips” on his behalf should be treated as a veto. Instead, in his rush to pack the courts with conservatives, Senator Grassley is ready to do away with tradition and reason. Please let him know that he does this at his peril and that, if he moves forward, you will make him pay for it.
