Have you called your representatives today? It’s time.
Demand answers to missing immigrant children. Say NO to reactionary lifetime judicial appointments. Reject the current president’s self-serving actions. Protect our environment.
Protect the Children!
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to demand that the Department of Homeland Security immediately cease separating children from their parents at the border when they arrive seeking asylum or otherwise apprehended.
The DHS recently instituted a policy that refers anyone caught crossing the border illegally for federal prosecution, resulting in the separation of children from their parents. In addition, it has come to light that, in the last three months of 2017 alone, about 1,500 children – 20% of those separated from their families – were lost, meaning that the Department of Health and Human Services, into whose custody they had been placed, had no idea where they were.
This is beyond reprehensible and fits precisely with the dehumanizing approach of Trump and his minions, who call immigrants “animals”, make jokes about the crimes people with Hispanic surnames commit, and say about children, “They look so innocent. They’re not innocent.” The only children I’m aware of that “aren’t so innocent” are Don Jr., Ivanka and Eric, all of whom indeed belong in jail. Those crossing the border are innocent and must remain with their families. Demand it!
Trump Is Selling Us Out – Protest!!
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to state to the press that Trump is selling our nation out to enrich himself.
All of the scandals swirling around Trump, of which there appear to be so many, may in fact be one: that he is selling out the United States and our security to enrich himself. He did it when he accepted help from Russia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to throw the election. He’s been doing it as those looking for favors from the president flock to his hotels and Mar-a-Lago. He’s done it again just now by removing sanctions from Chinese telephone manufacturer ZTE in exchange for a $500M investment in one of his properties by the Chinese government. This is bribery – an impeachable offense. You may not be able to impeach him – yet – but you don’t have to remain silent. Trump is selling us out – protest!!
Defend the Rule of Law Against Lies
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to demand that [the MoC] vocally defend the Department of Justice and the FBI against Trump’s lies.
Trump is cornered. It is nearly certain that he is guilty of colluding with Russia, as well as perhaps with Saudi Arabia and the UAE, to throw his election. In response, he is trying every possible conspiracy theory, no matter how demented, to discredit the Mueller investigation and to, in Bannon’s words, “Flood the zone with sh*t”. He must not be allowed to do this unanswered: the risk is that too many “low-information voters” will hear only his lies and remember nothing more. We must have Democratic voices loudly telling the truth to the public, not just in letters to Congress and press releases. To the public. On TV. In the press. In appearances.
Will [the MoC] defend our democracy loudly, now?
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask that [the MoC] demand the dissolution of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, aka ICE.
ICE is being turned into an aggressive and abusive force to carry out Trump and the Republicans’ harassment and abuse of immigrants, illegal or otherwise. As such, it’s a blunt and dangerous instrument. It should be eliminated.
Will [the MoC] call for the elimination of ICE?
NO on Bounds, Nielson and Oldham
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the Senator to vote NO on the judicial nominations of Ryan Bounds, Howard Nielson and Andrew Oldham.
Bounds’s appointment flaunts the blue slip process, in which the Senators of the state where the appointment will take place have traditionally held veto power over an appointment. Nielson defends the use of torture on civilians, worked for the NRA opposing common sense gun safety, and opposed the ACA. Oldham has supported repressive voter ID laws in Texas, common sense gun safety, and efforts to stop climate change. All three deserve a NO vote. Will the Senator supply hers?
Yes on SB 49: Protect Our Environmental Standards from Trump
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the Assemblyperson to support SB 49 to ensure that California protects its environment regardless of the Federal government attempts to undermine our standards.
In response to the Trump Administration’s promised rollbacks of federal environmental regulations, Senate Bill 49 (“SB 49”), is an effort to protect California’s environmental standards.
● SB 49 would prohibit state and local agencies from amending or revising their rules and regulations in a manner that makes state laws or standards less stringent than pre-2017 federal standards.
● To the extent that state air and water laws do not already codify pre-2017 federal standards, SB 49 would require state agencies to establish such standards.
● SB 49 would also require any species listed as endangered or threatened under the federal Endangered Species Act to have the same listings under state law.
Yes on SB 100 for Clean Energy
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the Assemblyperson to support SB 100 to ensure that 100% of California’s electricity is produced from zero-carbon resources by 2045.
● SB 100 will accelerate the state’s current clean energy goals.
● It requires 50% clean electricity by 2026
● 60% clean electricity by 2030
● And sets a new goal of 100% of California electricity to be carbon-free by 2045.
