Monday:  Demand That All Children Be Returned to their Parents

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to demand the immediate and independently-verified return of all separated children to their parents.

The Trump regime tore approximately 2,500 children from their parents and then began to lose them in a nationwide foster child system. While the government says that they will now return the children to their parents – after saying that they wouldn’t – they are refusing to allow third-party verification of their claims. Long gone are the days when we could trust what our governmental officials are claiming, with truth the first victim of the Trump presidency*. We must insist on 100% reunification AND 100% independent verification. Thank you!

Tuesday:  NO Concentration Camps, NO Indefinite Detention

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to vehemently oppose any bill that would allow the government to bypass the “Flores Settlement”, which limits the detention of children to twenty days. I’m also asking [the MoC] to oppose the construction of concentration camps built to hold tens of thousands of immigrants.

I can hardly believe that I live in a country where I have to be asking [the MoC] to oppose indefinite detention and concentration camps. The very thought makes my blood run cold. I need my [MoC] to oppose these moves by the Trump regime for the utter horror that they are – especially knowing that, for this regime, they are only a first step.

Wednesday:  Protect Due-Process Rights, the Essence of Law and Order

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to relentlessly defend the right to due process for undocumented immigrants.

Trump’s call to deprive undocumented immigrants of the right to due process is another of his moves to install himself as a tyrant. Our revolution was fought to rid ourselves of a king who had absolute authority over us – that is, a sovereign who wasn’t answerable to the rule of law. Now Trump wants that power for himself. One thing we know without question is that Trump won’t stop with immigrants. He will continue to destroy the rule of law until he stands supreme. As Patrick Henry said, “Forbid it, Almighty God.”

Will [the MoC] fight Trump’s tyranny tooth and nail?

Tell the Trumpublicans:  Hands Off Our Healthcare!

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to tell Trump and the Republicans:  Hands Off Our Healthcare!!

Trump this week bragged that, though the GOP couldn’t repeal the Affordable Care Act, they had “gutted it anyway” through executive action and inaction. Meanwhile, the GOP in the House was working on severe cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, prompted by their giant tax scam giveaway last December, which is blowing a hole in the deficit. As they attack out healthcare, coverage will be declined, premiums will rise catastrophically and people will die. Please tell them to stop working to remove and destroy our healthcare!

NO Cuts to SNAP

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the Senator]to oppose any farm bill that includes cuts to the Supplemental Assistance Nutrition Program (SNAP).

The Republican House has passed a farm bill that includes devastating work requirements for those receiving SNAP. The requirements would create a huge, unfunded bureaucracy and make it much more likely that people who are hungry and need help won’t get it. Republicans believe that the rich deserve to be rewarded even more and that the poor deserve to be punished. I disagree and I expect the Senator to not only disagree but to lead the fight. Be a champion for the poor and the hungry. They need you!

Preserve Our Control of Our Energy Grid

Hi my name is ________.  I am a constituent of Senator _____, and I am calling from zip code ______.  I am also a member of Indivisible __.I am calling to urge the Senator to vote against AB-813, currently being heard in the Senate Judiciary committee. The bill would prohibit progress of our community choice (CCA), which are providing local renewable energy, and it would hurt victims of the recent fires in California by releasing liability of Investor Owned Utilities like PG&E. Please do not repeat the rolling brown-outs of the early 2000s. I strongly urge the Senator to vote against AB-813. Thank you.”

*Background*: AB-813 would regionalize California's energy grid. This is the same bag of goods that was sold to Californian's in the late 1990's, when Enron took advantage of the speculative energy market which cost California millions of dollars. This bill will see energy jobs leave California which working class unions strongly oppose.  California would import dirty energy like coal power from neighboring states. The bill would cede local control of CAISO (California Independent System Operator) to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and once done cannot be un-done.
