There is no time to wait for someone else to act. Call our Senators. Call our Representatives. Call our state and local legislators.
And most particularly, call our Senators about the Kavanaugh appointment. If you have already called, call again. Our Senators need to hear you stand for better government and better leadership.

Republicans Are Covering for a Traitor
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to continually make the case: the Republicans are covering for a traitor.
In everything he does, Trump makes plain his guilt. He obstructs investigations, lies about his past behavior and that of others, and kisses up to Putin at every turn. How exactly he conspired to win and what he owes Russia in return is still to be discovered. That he did it couldn’t be more obvious. And that the Republican Party will cover for him endlessly is also now proven. They are complicit in his crimes, betraying our country every single day. I’m asking [the MoC]: don’t pull your punches. Tell the truth. Trump and his party are betraying our country.

No Citizenship Question on the Census!
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to remind [the MoC] that I care: no citizenship question should be included in the Census.
Adding the question is a GOP tactic to depress participation and redraw electoral lines. It’s as simple and as slimy as that. It’s wrong and I’m asking [the MoC] to oppose it in every way they can.

Reunite Them All, Dammit!
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to continue to push for the reunification of all migrant children with their parents.
The Trump regime reflects Trump: it is cruel, petulant, incompetent and insubordinate. Hence the more than 500 children still not reunited, over a month after the court-set date for all to be back with their parents. 23 are younger than five. Yet the regime drags its heels and the court hasn’t inflicted punishment enough to change them. I’m asking [the MoC] to explore every avenue to bring the Trump lackeys to account and to get the children back with their parents.

Protect the Rights of Citizens
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to protest Trump’s attack on the rights of native-born citizens, who are having their birth certificates questioned by his racist, authoritarian regime.
Hispanic American citizens along the border are being detained and threatened with deportation. Having their passport applications denied. Having their passports revoked. This is unAmerican. It is fascist. Racist. Trump. It must stop. I’m asking the [MoC] to denounce this harassment and take steps to stop it.

Thursday: Protect our Liberties: Reject Kavanaugh
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the Senator to reject the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
It’s crystal-clear that adding Kavanaugh to the court would create a hard-right majority on the bench that would quickly strip away rights that have become synonymous with liberty in today’s United States: a woman’s right to make her own choices about reproductive health, equal rights regardless of sexual orientation, the protection of voting rights and much more. A hard-right court with Kavanaugh would also continue to favor the rich over the poor and the powerful over the weak. It would be a disaster. Please do everything in your power to sink his nomination.

Friday: No Access to Papers, No Confirmation Hearings for Kavanaugh
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the Senator to continue to reject consideration of the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court so long as Republican Senators continue to withhold documents critical to evaluating his nomination.
The stonewalling by Republicans is unprecedented and part of a concerted effort to rush his confirmation before the truth can out. This is deeply wrong and unfair to all citizens of our country. It’s also part of an established pattern of abuse of power by Senate Republicans. It must be wholly rejected by all Democratic Senators.

Saturday: The Accused Must Not Choose their Judges
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the Senator to continue to insist that consideration of the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court be halted until Trump’s legal jeopardy has been resolved.
The President*, for the first time in history, is an unindicted co-conspirator to election fraud, a felony. He is likewise under suspicion of treasonously conspiring with Russia to fraudulently win the same election. He must not be allowed to choose the deciding judicial vote over his guilt. Period. No nomination should go forward until his legal jeopardy is fully resolved.

NO on AB 813: Keep Control of our Electric Grid
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to vote NO on AB 813, which would regionalize control of our electric grid, to the detriment of California and our environment.
A regional grid operator would endanger our clean energy policies, increase pollution in disadvantaged communities, and send tens of thousands of middle class jobs out of state. It would open the door to coal-fired power being imported and place decisions about our grid and our environment beyond our control. At a time when both California and the environment are under attack, this is madness.

CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCES BOARD
Protect Our Emissions Standards
Link to submit comments: https://www.arb.ca.gov/lispub/comm/bcsubform.php?listname=leviii18&comm_period=A
The California Air Resources Board is having a public hearing on amendments to the Low-Emission Vehicle III Greenhouse Gas Emission Regulation on Sept. 27th at 9:00AM in Sacramento. The purpose of the amendments is to protect California’s vehicle emissions standards from an attack by Trump’s EPA, which is maintaining that we don’t have the right to set our own standards.
Please use the link above to write to the CARB and be sure to submit your comments by September 14th. Here’s a sample script, but feel free to write your own:
Dear CARB:
I'm writing in support of your proposed amendments to the Low-Emission Vehicle III Greenhouse Gas Emission Regulation. We must, at all costs, protect our own stringent standards against attack by Trump's EPA.

Fully Fund the Human Rights Commission
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I believe that the Board of Supervisors are now aware that Sonoma County residents want our County Commission on Human Rights’ staffing needs, and an appropriate Public Meeting Room restored by the Board. Thank you.
Several Supervisor’s have emailed sincere responses (e.g. Rabbitt, Gorin, and Hopkins) to residents’ concerns. Supervisor Hopkins’ quote in Sonoma West Times & News (August 14, 2018) indicating that she was working with the Chair of the BOS “to find a solution that enables the commission to continue its important work in our community, said Hopkins in an email,” is another.
Please finish the job, by actually voting to restore the resources which the CHR believes it needs to be able to continue its essential work.
Background (from CHR vice chair Dmitra Smith):
"The Board of Supervisors recently approved a budget which ended staff support for the Commission on Human Rights (as well as our sister Commission on the Status of Women). We lobbied our supervisors in vain. We have just received word that we will no longer be able to hold meetings in the PRMD hearing room but have been moved to the HR Training Center. I'm not going to speculate on the reasons for this, but as I hear that funds are tight post fires, I'm aware that $4 million dollars was spent on fighting for immunity for the deputy who killed Andy Lopez, so it's more about priorities from my view.
"In the past few years, I and many others have worked diligently to establish the Commission on Human Rights as a beacon of light within the county government system. A place where truly marginalized voices can be amplified and uplifted. Where justice, intersectionality and truth can grow and flourish. We have published reports on racism in schools, advocated for our unhoused neighbors, fought back against hate crimes, supported our immigrant, LGBTQ+, Disability communities, and so much more, not to mention mentoring over 100 Sonoma County youth in the Junior Commission on Human Rights.
"I am told that the CAO office will advise the supervisors on how the commission will function. I don't know any of those people and they certainly don't understand what I do as the Vice Chair. I already work hundreds of hours per year for free and I am honored to do so, but we can not do it without adequate support and an appropriate venue for our monthly public meetings.
"If you believe in the importance of having a fully functioning Commission on Human Rights and Commission on the Status of Women, I URGE you to contact your supervisors and express your concern. We still have not gotten permission from the BOS to fundraise so that we can get this PSA I directed into theaters. Now we'll need to fundraise to function. I will not go quietly into the night with this one. I have worked too hard and too long these past six years. The people of Sonoma County deserve much better. This is not the time in our nation, state or county to diminish the work of the Commission on Human Rights.”
