Thank You! Now Follow Through!!
At long last the House has moved to fully support an aggressive impeachment process against Donald Trump. This is something we have been asking for all year. Trump committed what seemed to be clearly impeachable offenses as early as 2017 (when Rep. Jared Huffman came out in support of impeachment) and the Mueller report contained an entire ‘road map’ to another set.

But it took the persistence of activist groups all over the country, especially during the August recess, to unsettle the Democrats holding out against impeachment. When they returned to Washington, many were finally questioning their strategy and realizing that they were in danger of losing our support – something we had been saying all year. They were ripe for shifting and the spark of the whistleblower’s complaint – a near-perfect opportunity – finally set impeachment ablaze.

Let’s not fool ourselves that this was preordained or part of some grand plan. It has taken the clarity, courage, and persistence of activists to get us to this point. Now that Democratic leadership is finally onboard, we need to work together to get the job done. This will mean supporting them – and it will continue to mean pushing them to follow through and do the work thoroughly. This isn’t just about one set of Trump’s crimes, though that may be the impeachment focus. The rot goes much deeper and our work won’t be done until it’s truly removed and our democracy repaired.

Keep the Focus on Impeachment

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to THANK Representative [Huffman/Thompson] for joining with their House colleagues in calling for the impeachment inquiry now underway.

We have been asking for this inquiry all year. While the whistleblower complaint is a perfect example of Trump’s corruption and betrayal of our country, it’s far from the first. We’re profoundly grateful, after so much hesitation, that the House is finally moving forward. Now, please, be thorough and relentless. Don’t stop short and don’t compromise. Now that you’re removing the cancer, get it all.

Use Oversight to Pursue Corruption

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask Representative [Huffman/Thompson] to continue to push for vigorous oversight of administration malfeasance.

Trump’s impeachable offenses aren’t the only crimes being committed. Corruption is everywhere in this administration. Now that impeachment has begun, the House must ramp up other oversight as well, pursuing other whistleblower complaints and abuses by officials such as Ross, DeVos, and others. This is no time for hesitation or timidity. It’s time for firm and thorough action.

Don’t Fall for McConnell’s Election ‘Security’ Scam

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the Senator to vote NO on McConnell’s election security scam.

Mitch McConnell has refused to bring the House’s SAFE Act to the Senate floor for a vote but, stung by his new nickname of #MoscowMitch, wants to bring an alternative bill to the floor instead. The problem is that he omitted ALL election security requirements from his bill, turning it into funds which may be misused to buy hackable voting machines – just what Mitch would want. Vote NO on his “no-strings” bill.

Sign SB 47 and AB 201 for Dark Money Transparency

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the Governor to sign both SB 47 and AB 201, clean money bills for petitions and texting.

Dark money is a plague upon our political system. These two bills would help by forcing disclosure of top funders seeking to influence the vote. It’s a no-brainer. The governor must sign these today.
