All over the US, elections have energized the resistance. But we cannot wait for November. We must act now. And that means enough is enough. Time to make some calls.

Any other president — Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama — would have been here, immediately, standing with us to rebuild.
Any other president would have denounced —immediately —the white supremacy rally just outside his house.
Any other president would have ensured that the children were already reunited with their families.
At this point, some think any other president —any other! — would be an improvement. We know … we don’t want Pence, and we cannot take this guy any longer.

It’s been 166 days since Stoneman Douglas became a high school we had all heard of.
It’s been months since parents and children were separated at the border - and for some, there is no reunion in sight.
It’s 101 days until the midterm election is over.

There is a constant attack and retreat from our current president. We cannot predict what it will take for him to agree with himself that the Russians attacked our elections. He’s not two-sided, he’s erratic.

Yet, we need our Senators and Representatives to hold firm to their convictions - supporting families, refusing census questions on citizenship, and demanding that Congress Members speak up about this president’s war on children and trade.

There’s a lot of noise. And that noise can distracts us from the important issues. Let’s all pay attention.

• The families are not reunited.
• Congress is not working toward a sensible immigration policy, or toward helping the DREAMers.
• The Supreme Court nominee remains at issue, especially since the current President’s involvement with Russia seems every more treasonous.
• Congress is not addressing gun violence.

The Russians would like to talk with Putin critic and our former ambassador.
And they would be happy to talk with their 12 military officers. Families remain separated. The president wants to appoint a man who lied to Congress about torture to the Supreme Court.

After months of separation, reunited children no longer remember their families. The US has demonstrated that they don’t know what they are doing. And still, health insurance is under attack, and the current president is meeting one-on-one with no witnesses with Putin.

So many of the current administration’s decisions are borderline immoral. Not this one.

There is no moral code that justifies separating children from their parents - and not providing a route to reunite them. Parents are deported with no tools or ability to be joined by their children.

There are no good words. But there are plenty of words … use them to call our Senators and Representatives.

This is part of the war on children.
