Team leaders for Indivisible Sonoma County had a productive and fun meeting on March 22nd. We talked about our vision for the future of Indy SoCo and brainstormed about effective ways to organize our group as our membership grows and we become seasoned activists. Team leaders described the progress their groups have made. We will soon be posting updates about each team here. (As Rachel Maddow likes to say: “Watch this space.”)
We also heard a presentation by Linda Hemenway, the Sonoma County Chapter Lead for Organizing for Action (OFA). Linda explained the history of OFA and described the important work it has been doing to save the Affordable Care Act. We were inspired by her presentation and are excited about the idea of partnering with OFA.
Finally, we made plans for the busy month ahead. We have five marches or rallies coming up. On April 15th, Indy SoCo is hosting “Release Your Returns,” a picnic and rally in Santa Rosa. In addition, the Sit-Ins, Marches, and Protest Team is providing logistical support and other assistance for four other events: the March for Health on April 1st; the Cesar Chavez March on April 2nd; the March for Science on April 22nd; and the People’s Climate March on April 29th. Details about these marches will be posted here under the “Events” tab as they become available.
