Coordinated Call Actions

We have three suggested scripts for your Senators and two for your Congressmen. Please choose what works for you, or create your own talking points. Make the call personal and direct. Happy April and have a great week resisting the Trump agenda!

Calls to Senators:

1. Filibuster Gorsuch (Both Senators)

2. Halt Business as Usual (Both Senators)

3. Co-sponsor Tax Transparency Act S.26 (Harris)

Script 1.

Call Senator Dianne Feinstein and Senator Kamala Harris

Feinstein: DC Office (202) 224-3841; SF Office (415) 393-0707; LA Office (310) 914-7300

Harris: DC Office (202) 224-3553; SF Office (415) 355-9041

Hi, my name is ______ and I'm calling from [City, Zip]. I am also a member of Indivisible Sonoma County. Please tell Senator [Feinstein/Harris] that I expect her to take a strong stand in support of the filibuster. In the history of our country, every single justice to sit on the Supreme Court has received the approval of a filibuster-proof majority. This is a vital check-and-balance in our democracy, and an important function of the United States Senate. Supreme Court Justices enjoy lifetime terms, and they should not be selected on the temporary whims on one political party or the other. I will be watching closely what the Senator does on this issue and will cast my vote accordingly.

Script 2.

Hi, my name is ______ and I'm calling from [City, Zip]. I am also a member of Indivisible Sonoma County. Decisions Senators make today about who to put on the Court and how Supreme Court appointments are made will affect our democratic system for decades to come. The Supreme Court hears cases on critical issues, from protecting minority rights to ensuring free, fair, and democratic elections. Further complicating the confirmation process, FBI Director Comey recently made public that there is a “wide-ranging probe” into potential collaboration between the Trump campaign and the Russian government. The Senator should call for a HALT to the confirmation process until the FBI’s findings are made public. Keep the court at eight!

Script 3:

Senator Kamala Harris :

Harris: DC Office (202) 224-3553; SF Office (415) 355-9041

My name is ______ and I'm a constituent from [City, Zip]. I am also a member of Indivisible Sonoma County. I urge Senator Harris to co-sponsor the S. 26 The Presidential Tax Transparency Act. This is a very important issue for thousands of people in California, myself included. The American people deserve to know whether President Trump is working for his constituents or for special interests, foreign governments, and companies where he has business deals. I hope the Senator will immediately cosponsor the Presidential Tax Transparency Act! This simple bill would require full public disclosure of the recent tax returns for President Trump and future major party presidential nominees.

Calls to House of Representatives:

1) Halt House Business and Nunes must recuse himself. (Your Congressman)

2) Reject the Trump budget. (Your Congressman)

Mike Thompson: DC Office (202) 225-3311; Santa Rosa Phone (707) 542-7182

Jared Huffman: DC Office (202) 225-5161; Petaluma Phone (707) 981-8967

Script 1:

My name is ______ and I'm a constituent from [City, Zip]. I am also a member of Indivisible Sonoma County. I am calling to request that the Congressman HALT all business as usual and demand an immediate, complete and independent investigation into the Trump administration’s ties to Russia. Please publicly support Minority Leader Pelosi's call for Rep. Nunes to recuse himself from any further involvement in this matter, and if necessary, stepping aside from his leadership role on the House Intelligence Committee as it looks into the matter. Doing this will remove any hint of bias on the part of Rep. Nunes or other House Republicans. Thank you for your continuing efforts on our behalf!

Script 2:

My name is ______ and I'm a constituent from [City, Zip]. I am also a member of Indivisible Sonoma County. Trump’s suggested budget should go the way of his healthcare plan: nowhere! His plan calls for a sharp increase in military spending and stark cuts across much of the rest of the government including the elimination of dozens of long-standing federal programs that assist the poor, fund scientific research and aid America’s allies abroad. I call for Congressman [Thompson or Huffman] to do everything in their power to protect services for the poor, the elderly, children and other vulnerable people from this cruel proposed budget. Thank you.
