URGENT ACTION FOR 5.10.2017

Wow. The Senate Intelligence Committee’s hearing with former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates was intense. But the impetuous #45 fired FBI Director Comey with no warning and no finesse. He didn’t even call him. But we can call. Our senators and representatives need to hear from us. Let’s call about the investigation, the developing picture of Russian intervention, and the Republican President’s reaction.

And here's another call -- and an ACTION -- for those who want to support TODAY’s impromptu DC protest, and call  Rod Rosenstein:

Throw your coffee into a travel mug, put on your Indy purple, and head to the Federal Building in Santa Rosa (777 Sonoma Ave) at 9am THIS MORNING to join us in recording the following message via Facebook Live. If you can't make it then make your own call to Rod Rosenstein (Deputy AG) at 202-514-2101 between 9am and noon (to coordinate with D.C.) or record your own FB Live message using this script and share it far and wide:

"I’m calling on Mr. Rosenstein to appoint an independent special prosecutor to investigate Russia's involvement with the Trump campaign and the 2016 election. It has become clear that this is the only way we can be guaranteed a fair and full investigation instead of more partisan politics.

Hello, my name is _____ and I live in [City, Zip]. I am also a member of Indivisible Sonoma County. Yesterday President Trump made our country much less safe by firing the director of the FBI only 4 years into his 10-year term. Until yesterday, Director James Comey was the individual responsible for investigating the now-proven Russian intervention into the 2016 election. Now Trump will nominate his replacement. I applaud Senator [Harris/Feinstein] for her remarks supporting an immediate call for an independent special prosecutor to determine if there was any collusion between Trump’s campaign and the Russians. I also call on her to ask Director Comey (scheduled to testify in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday) if he feels the FBI investigation was compromised in any way. Thank you.

Bonus:  Call on MOCs to draft independent counsel legislation if Rosenstein does not immediately signal willingness to appoint special prosecutor.  All congressional business stop until special prosecutor appointed.

Hi, my name is _____ and I live in [City, Zip]. I am also a member of Indivisible Sonoma County. On May 9, the Republican President announced that he had fired FBI Director Comey on the advice of Attorney General Sessions, effective immediately. Let’s face facts: the Russian investigation is heating up. Former aides and campaign workers will soon testify in front of the Senate. Over and over, the news implies that the Republican President has something to hide. Will you [Huffman or Thompson] call for hearings to find out if Trump has committed an impeachable offense? We need to preserve our democracy and continue to demand accountability. Thank you!
