Gutting Medicaid

Hi, my name is _____ and I live in [City, Zip].  I am also a member of Indivisible Sonoma County.  On Tuesday, May 23, the Republican President will release his detailed budget. Early information indicates that it will include massive cuts to Medicaid ($800 million over the next 10 years) and require changes to anti-poverty programs that would give states new power to limit a range of benefits. All as part of an ongoing effort to cut the safety net. The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that this could cut off Medicaid benefits for about 10 million people over the next decade. 10 MILLION people with no choices. What will [Senator Harris or Feinstein] do to restore the safety net and protect the lives of millions?

Fight for Education
(Senator Harris serves on the Committee for the Budget)

Hello, my name is _____ and I live in [City, Zip].  I am also a member of Indivisible Sonoma County.  From the day he nominated Betsy DeVos to be Secretary of Education, the Republican President has signaled his utter contempt for public education. By diverting $10 billion away from everything from preschool development grants to student loans forgiveness programs, the Republican President’s budget proposal is disastrous for current and future educators and for students at all levels. California will be hit hard. On Thursday the Senate Committee on the Budget will hold a hearing on the President’s Fiscal Year 2018 Budget Proposal. Will Senator Harris commit to pushing back and rejecting Trump’s education budget proposal?

Education budget

Hello, my name is _____ and I live in [City, Zip]. I am also a member of Indivisible Sonoma County.  I am deeply concerned about the Republican President’s proposed budget and his efforts to destroy our public education system by shifting $10.6 million dollars to private and religious schools. This budget builds on efforts by Betsy DeVos to create a system that will leave many children behind.

Our public education system is unique and valuable. But in Betsy DeVos’ first Education budget, no one is surprised that she is planning to expand charter schools and vouchers for private and religious schools, and she wants us to pay for it!

Senator Feinstein must continue to speak out about the budget, on the floor and in the press, to protect all of California’s children.

Speaking out against Trumpcare

Hi, my name is _____ and I live in [City, Zip]. I am also a member of Indivisible Sonoma County. I am calling to encourage the Senator to work to get equal representation for women senators at the conference table where decisions will be made about the Senate’s version of healthcare. The Senate Majority Leader’s decision to have 13 men -13 Republican men - determining the type and quality of health care for our nation is, at best, short sighted. I urge the Senator to speak firmly and loudly, to the press and on the floor, to defend the needs of millions of California residents and protect accessible and affordable healthcare. Thank you.

Both Congressman on HR 356:

Hi, my name is _____ and I live in [City, Zip]. I am also a member of Indivisible Sonoma County. Thank you for taking action by signing the discharge petition to force a vote on HR 356, the bipartisan bill that would establish an outside, independent commission. But unless the House acts, the investigation will stall. The Department of Justice has appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller as Independent Counsel, and a parallel independent investigation must be effectively initiated and should be fully funded with subpoena powers up to and including the President. No Other House Business should occur until this investigation is in place.

Paris Accord

Hi, my name is _____ and I live in [City, Zip].  I am also a member of Indivisible Sonoma County.  The Republican President's advisors continue to review his threat to quit the 2015 Paris Agreement to limit global warming, and say he will announce his position after the G-7 summit. I am calling to ask Representative Huffman what he will do, as a next step, in the event the Republican President makes good on his threat. How will the Congressman respond? Thank you.

Bonus call to ICE

Many of us know one or more people in detention prior to deportation.  There are ways to support our friends and neighbors in their efforts to remain in the US with a path to citizenship - keeping families together and providing for their economic security.

If you know of someone, here’s a simple script form to make your own.

Call ICE Field Office at 415-844-5512, which will give you a menu of options.  Have the A# (case number) of the person you are concerned about ready. Select 1 (one) for Detention, and then select a choice based on the last digit of the A# (case number).
