Phone Scripts for 9.21.17 - #KillTheBill Again!

On Monday, September 25, Republicans will hold a hearing in the Senate Finance Committee that’s designed to provide a fictional “process” as a fig leaf to win Republican (particularly McCain’s) votes.

To 'call out' this sham process and put more pressure on Senators in these final days, we’re asking you to focus your calls on Senators both in and out of state! We know it is a little out of the Indivisible pathway. Desperate times demand desperate measures.

Will you stand in solidarity with other Indivisible groups (and partners across the country) and call both OUR Senators, and those in other states, to do all they can procedurally and persuasively to #KilltheBill?

All of our phone scripts over the next week will focus on this critical issue. Please also check out Indivisible's peer to peer call tool, https://www.trumpcareten.org/calls-to-kill-trumpcar

USE YOUR INFLUENCE TO KILL THE GRAHAM-CASSIDY BILL

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible.

I’m calling to ask Senator Feinstein to use her seniority and influence to counteract ALL efforts by the Republicans to push the Graham-Cassidy bill through this month. Not only do I ask her to withhold consent on all unanimous consent requests in order to ‘run out the clock’, Ialso ask her to use her seniority and influence to push her Republican colleagues to a “no” vote.

Will the Senator withhold consent on all unanimous consent requests to in order to kill Graham-Cassidy bill by process tactics, and will she also use her influence over her colleagues McCain, Murkowski, Capito, Portman, Gardner and Capito?

This legislation, which is even worse than previous Republican “WealthCare” attempts, would devastate healthcare in America. People would die. This bill must not pass!  Thank you, I believe she can help to thwart this cruel bill.

USE YOUR PERSUASIVE GIFTS TO KILL THE GRAHAM-CASSIDY BILL

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible.

I thank the Senator for co-sponsoring Senator Sanders’ medicare for all act, and appreciate her call on Twitter “Don’t sleep on the Graham-Cassidy “health care” bill. It will defund Planned Parenthood & cost millions coverage. We need everyone shouting.”

Now I call on her to speak out on the floor --and to the press -- in opposition to this bill.  Not only do I want her to withhold consent on all unanimous consent requests in order to ‘run out the clock’, I ask her to use her gifts of persuasion to publicly encourage undecided Republican colleagues to vote no! In particular, she should immediately reach out to Senators McCain, Murkowski, Capito, Portman, Gardner and Capito.

I look forward to seeing a press release showing that Senator Harris has reached out to Republicans, and done everything she can to persuade her colleagues to kill this cruel bill.

Hi, my name is _______. I’m calling from <zip>.

I urge the Senator to reject the Graham-Cassidy bill and to work toward a true, bipartisan bill that will address healthcare costs as well as healthcare access. No state governor ought to be forced to decide whether to offer substandard medical care or to put barriers in the way of children who are born with medical problems. No member of congress should have to weigh, each year, how many of his or her constituents will face bankruptcy or worse because their medical insurance is too expensive or simply unobtainable.

Please address the real issues that brought us the Affordable Care Act, and vote NO on this divisive and ineffective bill.

Thank you for ensuring my comments get to the Senator.
