Actions! 4.12-4.18.2021

We’ve been here before

Watching the trial. Hearing about the sexual exploits of an elected leader. Mourning the passing of more lost to gun violence.

There is no way to stop this madness — no way at all, unless we change the rules and accept that, right now, there is no room for compromise with Republican leadership.

And only so much room to compromise with those unwilling to solve problems, no matter which state elected them.

Time to get to work.

April 14
Meet CA Legislators Night & Postcard Party for Climate Justice!
Wednesday, April 14, 2021
7 - 8 PM

The California state legislature is considering some super important climate and environmental justice bills this season. Come learn about our two top statewide priorities, the Fracking & Dangerous Drilling bill (SB 467) and the equitable Building Decarbonization Package (SB 30, 31, and 32), from their local authors, and then participate in a postcard party to urge key legislators to support these vital bills!

We'll be joined by San José Assemblymember Ash Kalra (co-author of SB 467) and Silicon Valley Senator Dave Cortese (author of SB 30, 31, and 32) as well a leader from VISION, Voices in Solidarity Against Oil in Neighborhoods, to learn how we can help advance these bills into law.

We'll conclude the evening by writing and coloring postcards to be delivered at key moments.

April 15 & 16
Postcarding

Thursday, April 15, 2021
Friday, April 16, 2021
11 AM - 4 PM

Location: RSVP for location

The postcard campaign we’re working on for the next few weeks centers on Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, who has been one of the GOP Senators most intent on undermining democracy. He helped to spread lies about the election, and like Cruz and Hawley opposed certification of Biden's victory. Most recently he's tried to "whitewash" the events of January 6th.

Contact Molly with questions, directions, and location. Usual office hours 11 - 4 pm Th-Fri. Other times available by appt. only. (Closed Sundays).

Pickup Only.

FROM THE BIG LIE TO SUPPRESSING YOUR VOTE
After Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won in November, Trump refused to accept the results and instead created “The Big Lie” that the election was being stolen from him. Through impeachment and insurrection, Congressional Republicans refused to hold him accountable.

Now Republicans in 47 states are proposing more than 350 new laws that make it harder for their opponents to vote and easier for them to overturn results they don’t like - just what they tried to do unsuccessfully since November. Democrats in Congress can fix this. They can ...
