America must not be a partner to Netanyahu’s genocidal campaign against Palestinians in Gaza. President Biden must not reinstate draconian Trump border policies in a deal with Republican hostage-takers. And California lawmakers must fix the utility tax mistake they made last year.

In America, in Palestine, and in Israel, no matter what our religion or background, we all deserve a life of safety and freedom for ourselves and our families.
We must stop abetting Israel’s genocide in Gaza. It is morally indefensible and is destroying both Israel’s future security and America’s standing in the world. The United States must end its military support, now.

President Biden is signaling his willingness to throw immigrants under the bus, permanently, in order to secure funding for Ukraine and Israel. This is morally indefensible and bad politics. It’s also a betrayal of his promises and one more instance of him caving to Republican ransom demands. In short, it’s a very bad idea and he needs to stop. You can help.

REPEAL THE UTILITY TAX
Last year, the Legislature passed a law (AB 205) that would add a Utility Tax to everyone’s electricity bill.
This Utility Tax is uncapped, with unlimited potential to grow. Now the utilities and some organizations are proposing the highest Utility Tax in the country—between $400 and $1,500 per year just for being hooked up to the grid. The Utility Tax proposals will increase utility bills for millions of working and middle class people across California.
The proposals will hit particularly hard on people who live in apartments or homes that use less electricity. The Utility Tax will also discourage all forms of energy conservation, such as turning off the lights, putting in new windows, or installing solar panels.
Our legislators voted to create this mess, and now they need to fix it before state regulators make a final decision early next year.
Please call your State Legislators and tell them to fix this mess:
I’m calling to ask you to repeal the Utility Tax provision in AB 205. The Utility Tax will increase electricity bills on millions of working and middle class households. The Utility Tax will also discourage all forms of energy conservation. Since the Legislature voted for the Utility Tax, the Legislature needs to fix this mess. Will you support a repeal of the Utility Tax?
