This week Katie Porter, a freshman Congresswoman from Orange County whom many of us worked to elect in 2018, came out in favor of beginning impeachment hearings. Jared Huffman has supported opening hearings since 2017, when the first impeachable offenses became obvious. Yet Mike Thompson still refuses to call for impeachment hearings to begin. He needs to hear from us every day until he finally steps up accepts his responsibility as a member of Congress to uphold our laws.
This week, too, came more shocking reports of abuses from the child refugee concentration camps the Trump regime is running. Yet Congress has held almost no hearings about this disgrace and the House is considering giving ICE and CBP even more money, in an effort to look tough on immigration. CBP and ICE are out of control and must not be given one penny more to continue their abuses.

Begin Impeachment Hearings NOW!

Speaker Pelosi’s strategy of avoiding impeachment hearings is a catastrophic mistake. Trump is precisely the type of president impeachment is meant to protect us against. The House must act – and soon – to demonstrate, through the impeachment hearings process – to the public that Trump deserves to be removed from office. If that convinces the Senate, great. If not, it must convince the voters who can then turn him out. In either case, it upholds the rule of law.

Hearings NOW on Trump’s Concentration Camps

More reports emerged this week to demonstrate that the camps are rife with human rights abuses – against children, some toddlers, who have been separated from their parents. This is beyond abhorrent and it is being done in our name. If we don’t oppose it with everything we have, we are complicit, too.

Defund Hate

Where Are Trump’s Tax Returns?

Hold a Climate Debate!

I’m calling to say that I’m appalled that the DNC is not only NOT HOLDING a climate debate, it’s threatening 2020 presidential candidates who even PARTICIPATE IN ONE with banning them from other debates. Frankly, the DNC’s threatening presidential candidates over even engaging with the most critical issue of our time makes me angry and mistrustful of the DNC. Eliminate Plastic Pollution and Waste

Single-use products—typically plastic packaging – are overflowing our landfills, fouling our oceans and streets, and burdening the environment. Current disposal and recycling policies cannot resolve these problems, and California can no longer afford to wait for a resolution.
Senate Bill 54 requires reduction, composting or recycling of 75 percent of single-use packaging by 2030. It’s a goal we can and must achieve in California. I’m asking the Senator to vote “YES” on SB 54.
