Protect the Census

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to propose legislation that will make it illegal for the Census Bureau to include questions about the respondent’s citizenship in the census.

Including such a question will depress the census response rate as non-citizens are made afraid to participate. This is exactly what Sessions and Trump want: to distort the census numbers to help the Republican party maintain power as a minority party. This is unjust and undemocratic. Congress has the power to direct the Census Bureau to drop the question. You must do so.

Protect Mueller

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to work ceaselessly to move the legislation to protect Robert Mueller’s FBI investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election from interference by Trump.

Just this week we had yet another example of Trump’s interest in obstructing justice: the report that his attorney had floated the idea of pardons to Michael Flynn and Paul Manafort, both charged with crimes by the Mueller investigation. Trump has transparently tried to derail the investigation at every turn. He is just as transparently “in the pocket” of Vladimir Putin, who clearly helped him get elected. Mueller’s investigation must get to the bottom of this, or our country may well be lost – for good.

Will the [MoC] demand that legislation protecting Mueller move forward now?

Our country is a land of immigrants - and all of us are immigrants and dependents of immigrants. This is, quite frankly, unAmerican and despicable. The Trump regime attacks immigrants at every turn as their “state propaganda” machine of Fox, et al, cheers. In the face of such base and baseless attacks, immigrants and immigration need to be defended, both morally and as a pillar of our vibrant economy. Abolish ICE

I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to oppose Congressional authorization of ICE, to oppose any funding for ICE, and to work to abolish ICE and return the United States to treating immigrants as future Americans rather than as criminals.

ICE has been terrible for this country since it was created in 2003, and has only gotten worse ever since then. It is not enough to condemn “abuses” from a fundamentally oppressive organization.

No on Pompeo and Haspel

Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask the Senator to vote “NO” on the nominations of Mike Pompeo as Secretary of State and Gina Haspel to head the CIA.

Pompeo is a noted hawk and a Trump sycophant who will amplify Trump’s worst tendencies, placing us all in greater danger. Haspel oversaw a “black site” where torture was practiced and then later destroyed the evidence of torture. This must disqualify her entirely from consideration.
