Troops Must Not Use Lethal Force on American Soil
Hi, my name is _______ and I’m a constituent from zip code______ and a member of Indivisible. I’m calling to ask [the MoC] to demand the White House rescind the questionable “order” from Chief of Staff John Kelley authorizing military troops stationed at the border to use lethal force.
Kelley has no standing authority to issue such an order, nor does the Cabinet, in-house name he issued the order. The order itself violates the Posse Comitatus Act, which expressly forbids federal troops from being used for law enforcement functions within US borders. Our troops don’t belong at the border in the first place: it was a political stunt that backfired on Trump, as Americans wisely rejected Trump’s neo-fascist fear-mongering and elected Democrats in a landslide to oppose him. Demand that the order be rescinded and the troops removed from the border.

Whitaker is a political hack who has never been confirmed by the Senate. Trump’s motive in installing him was transparent: Trump is looking for protection for himself. As such, his appointment is an evasion of the duty of the Senate to advise and consent. His appointment probably also stems from corrupt intent. To add to the mess, Whitaker is compromised vis a vis the Mueller probe, has participated in shady business schemes and has apparently shady financial issues as well. He must go.

End the Trade Wars

Trump’s ignorant, foolish tariffs are taking their toll on American businesses. In just one example, soybean exports to China are down by 98%, with storage locations overflowing. Crops are rotting in the fields. The Chinese, in the meantime, have surely found other sources to buy from, potentially destroying that market for American farmers for good. Trade wars are destructive to all participants and they are never “won”, as Trump likes to bray. This is insanity and it has to stop.
